Cortisone shot

Today was my last surgical follow-up appointment with my orthopedic surgeon.  I’ve still been having quite a bit of pain in my knee.  Most of the time it’s been like a dull 4/5 (on a scale from 1-10), with lots sharp 8/9′s thrown in just for fun.  My extension is great and the swelling has gone down to almost none, but the pain is still there.  The dull pain appears to be from the arthofibrosis.  My surgeon thinks that the sharp pains are caused by stress on my patella due to continued muscle atropy in my quad.  He gave me a shot of cortisone in hopes that it would help with the pain, allowing me to work at better strengthening my muscles.  So… we’ll see what happens.  Right now I have an awful headache and my knee is swollen and stiff, both from the shot.   These will hopefully remedy themselves by the morning!!  :-)

About Anna

I've been married to my college sweetheart for 17 years and we've been in full or part time ministry ever since. I am a stay at home mom who homeschools our oldest son (11) while our youngest son (9) attends public school. Having adopted both our kids, we are big fans of adoption. My oldest has Asperger's Syndrome and my youngest has been diagnosed with a mood disorder, possibly bi-polar. I also have two long-haired dachshunds that I adore - Eli and Graham. I enjoy camping, watching movies, listening to and singing all types of music, and just spending time together with my precious family.
