Progress on my knee

I think that my knee is doing better. I know that it is because I can straighten it. I can stand on both legs for a short period of time and I can put partial weight on it while “walking” with my oh-so-beautiful crutches. I can’t use my hands to carry much of anything (which makes housework, etc. pretty much impossible) and it takes me a long time to walk anywhere, and this frustrates me. I can also feel the scar tissue coming back in my knee, which also frustrates me. I’m faithfully doing physical therapy and I’m praying that everything will turn out ok. And my husband is the best husband ever. He’s such a great helper to me – I could not have gotten through the past 4 months without his daily help with so many things.

Here is a photo of me from last week when I still had the cast on my leg. It was super heavy and painful! Now I only have to wear it at night. It is basically a cast that they cut in two and then is held together with a couple of really thick ace bandages.

And this brings us to today. Remember how I mentioned that the cast was cut in half? Well, they did this right after the surgery while I was still knocked out so I didn’t know that it had already been cut. When I went to the doctor last week to get the cast taken off… surprise – it had already been cut. The doctor unwrapped it and opened it up to reveal… the other surprise. While they were cutting it after surgery, the blade on the saw apparently got too hot and burnt my leg!!! So, notice in the picture how I have the 3 little incisions from the scopes and a big burn on my lower leg. Bummer, huh? I think that the doctor had visions of malpractice running through his head, but I assured him that I was just thankful to have my leg straight once again!

About Anna

I've been married to my college sweetheart for 17 years and we've been in full or part time ministry ever since. I am a stay at home mom who homeschools our oldest son (11) while our youngest son (9) attends public school. Having adopted both our kids, we are big fans of adoption. My oldest has Asperger's Syndrome and my youngest has been diagnosed with a mood disorder, possibly bi-polar. I also have two long-haired dachshunds that I adore - Eli and Graham. I enjoy camping, watching movies, listening to and singing all types of music, and just spending time together with my precious family.

That leg has just been jinxed!! I know what you mean about not being able to carry anything. When Vic was born I had a cast up to my knee from a smashed foot. I couldn’t even set the table. By the time the 6 weeks were up I had these long beautiful fingernails that I couldn’t grow otherwise. I’m so happy to know that you are doing better.oxox
