Smart Boys

A conversation that took place between Jaden and Jonah today:

Jonah:  I don’t like doing my chores.  I’ll pay you 10 cents per day to do mine for me.

Jaden:  Ok!  Except for brushing your teeth…you have to do that yourself.

(Pause as Jaden continues to think things over…)

Jaden:  If you pay me another 10 cents per day, I’ll be your servant.  I’ll get things for you whenever you ask, like a glass of water.  I’ll play whatever game you want to play – you can always choose.  I’ll be your special servant.

Jonah:  (Grinning from ear to ear) That sounds great.  It’s a deal.

Anna:  Jonah, you only earn $1 per week and if you pay Jaden 20 cents per day, you’ll have to pay an extra 40 cents per week to him.

Jonah:  No I won’t.  He’s my servant and he has to do what I tell him.  I’ll just tell him to pay me the money back.   (He looks at me like, Duh Mom!  Then he smiles and walks away!)

About Anna

I've been married to my college sweetheart for 17 years and we've been in full or part time ministry ever since. I am a stay at home mom who homeschools our oldest son (11) while our youngest son (9) attends public school. Having adopted both our kids, we are big fans of adoption. My oldest has Asperger's Syndrome and my youngest has been diagnosed with a mood disorder, possibly bi-polar. I also have two long-haired dachshunds that I adore - Eli and Graham. I enjoy camping, watching movies, listening to and singing all types of music, and just spending time together with my precious family.

Remind me not to try to bargain with either of these boys. I would probably end up on the losing side of the bargain.

HA HA HA! I thought it was the older sibling who was supposed to be bossy and manipulative. Or maybe that was just me with my little brother….
