Camping Trip

So we got back from our last camping trip of the season today. We decided to head on out to the coast because the weather forecast predicted full sun, no rain and mid-70′s. Sounds perfect, right? We arrived around 4pm on Monday, unpacked and set up camp, and then headed out to the shoreline for a quick playtime before heading back to camp for dinner and bed. The weather was great, we all had a blast and the sunset was gorgeous.

That night, it was cold. Very, very cold. And it rained. Not to worry – like a good P31 woman, I was prepared with warm hats and lots and lots of extra blankets. But the next morning, it remained cold. And it stayed cold all day. The sun never appeared. But no fear, we each had one set of warm clothes. So, we biked a lot, went on hikes and visited a really cool fort.

That night, it was cold again, but this time no rain. And we had the privilege of a visit from 2 crazy raccoons around 2am. Amazingly, the boys slept through the whole ordeal, but Scott and I weren’t so fortunate! In the morning, after huddling next to the fire for a couple of hours, we packed everything into the van and headed over to the beach again. No sun, but there was no wind and so it was actually quite pleasant. Scott and the boys took turns jumping over a huge sand dune while the dog and I took pictures and watched from below.

So, as always, the weather on the Oregon coast is very unpredictable! But our family had a terrific time and we’re heading back again next year!
